DRACONEN PRIME

(DRAK-OWN-IN PRIME) // DRACONIAN VAMPYRES // CURRENT RULING MONARCHY

Physical Aspects:

What species do the Draconian Knights take after?
-If natural born, Draconians will always be Feline or Canine.   It is possible for others to be turned, but only after a great deal of thought from the Queen's Guard.

What colors can the species be?
-Any. Though they typically avoid extremes. (Purple, Green, hot pink... etc. etc. It's possible, but not likely.)

Can they have bat wings instead of prime/angel wings? Are wings functional?
-Wings are entirely functional, and used often for transport, due to the location of their lands.  Every Draconian has a set of prime wings. There is no avoiding this. However, in cases where a double set exists, it is possible for one of the sets to be bat wings.

What are the average heights for female and male Draconians?
- There isn't really an average amongst the entire species, but most tend to run on the taller side. Females generally upwards of 5'7", males generally over 6'0".

Do all Draconians have horns? What do the horns symbolize?
- They do NOT.  While horns do tend to run in families, typically amongst noble families, it is perfectly normal for a Draconian to not have horns.  Horns are simply an additional Draconic trait that shows itself randomly within the species.

Draconian eyes are always silver?
- In all cases except for one, Draconian eyes are ALWAYS silver.  They have a fogged sort of appearance that can often be confused with blindness from far away.

Describe their heightened eyesight in more detail:
- Draconian eyes are more animal in nature, though they can appear normal at times when the race chooses not to use their abilities.  When in use, due to extra rods within their eyes that take in light differently, they will appear more like a nocturnal animal seen in the darkness. They are capable of 'zooming' their eyes in and out over great distances, as well as picking up heat signatures.  When in full use, colorblindness takes over, completely due to the part of their eyes they are using.

When their armor is gone, they have a scar/tattoo of a dragon, what does it look like? Where can it be located?
-Draconian armor can literally retract magically into the tattoo that appears on the left side of their back.  The tatoo looks generally like THIS, though it also has horns.  They are capable of wearing only pieces of their armor as well, if they prefer.  Either way, their armor is directly controlled by their minds.

Are all Draconians fit/war ready? (Like Spartans?)
-Always. Even those who are not part of the guard, will automatically be in peak physical condition, in the event of some situation where they would have to pick up arms.

What does their diet consist of?
-Depends entirely on the Draconian in question.  Clearly, blood is necessity. Typically, they will feed off of each other, as they wish to avoid sharing the knowledge of their specific weaknesses to others.  Most will eat traditional food for either the taste, or to blend in. Some Draconians are forced to consume flesh in addition, due to lacunae restrictions.

A Note About Blood Consumption:

-We play based on Furcadia Lore here. This means that the average furre has 6 pints of blood in their body. Every furre can lose ONE pint of blood per week and be completely fine. Once they have lost two, they will fall unconscious, and be unable to perform strenuous movements for a few days. Three will usually kill a furre.

How many times do they need to eat/feed? (Once a day, once a week, bi-weekly?) Does this change with the amount of years they have lived?
-Yes. How often they need to feed depends entirely on their age.  Sol and Artemian can get away with feeding once a week, where as Aris, the youngest, needs to feed 5 to 6 times a week.

What are the weaknesses for the Draconians?

  • Sunlight: They're Vampyres. That being said, they are perfectly fine in clouded weather and indirect sunlight, also unlike many other strains.

  • Fire: Sure, they use it for light and what not... But ALL Draconian Vampyres are skiddish around unusual fire displays. It's not necessarily that it hurts them, but they haven't really made it far enough to realize that. Call it paranoia.  This is believed to be one payment for their gifts, as both the Draconic and Seraphic blood of their creation relied heavily on fire magics.

  • Bright Lights: I.E. real or artificial sunlight. Draconian Vampyres are unable to see in incredibly bright light.

  • Bloodlust: They need it. A Draconian Vampyre who doesn't feed will essentially whither away to the dead state they should be in for their age. At some point in this, more and more of their Draconian side will slip away, and they'll begin to turn into a typical vampire, plagued by more and more lacunae as they fall.

  • Lacunae: Each Draconian Vampyre is plagued by at least one lacuna, more if fading away. (See bloodlust).

  • Animals generally dislike these creatures. With the exception of Orsnagai (Strange Horse, Snake, Dragon hybrids, native to Draconen Prime),  animals will bristle and growl at them on sight.

  • Addiction: Some Draconians , such as Sol and Artemian can prove to be addictive to other Draconians. If a Draconian feeds off of the same person for too long, they are also likely to become addicted. Magical creatures can cause both addiction, as well as loss of control.

What are the abilities for the Draconians?

  • Speed: These Vampyres are all incredibly quick. Most rely more on speed than strength in a fight.

  •

  • Strength: All are at least a bit stronger than the average furre, but most of the enhanced strength in these vampyres runs solely in the males of the species.

  •

  • Wings: Whether born with them or not, the moment a furre is turned into a Draconian Vampyre, they will grow a set of feathered prime wings. In some cases, this ends in Draconian Vampyres that possess a double set of wings (Such as bat wings and prime wings).

  •

  • Telepathy: Not entirely developed in all Draconians, and limited to all that have it. The most advanced form of telepathy possessed allows them to communicate with a furre IN SIGHT, and only receive thoughts meant for them to hear. The greater majority of Maegliin Seregonian races in whole, including Draconians, necessitates touching another furre in order to communicate telepathically.

  •

  • Blood: An upside to this strain is it's ability to feed off it's own kind. Unlike many species, Draconian Vampyres are able to feed off of each other for reasons unknown. Due to the strict ways in which they handle each other, and their gifts, they tend to stick to either feeding solely off of each other, killing their blood supplies, or finding a mate to drink off. All Draconians are forced in either regard to temper their blood lust for the respect of their kind, and will never be found displaying this side of their nature for any other than these.

  •

  • Shadow Magic: ONLY AVAILABLE IF THE FURRE HAD PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF MAGIC. Varies per person. Most typically used to float in and out in a variety of 'teleporting', Cloaking, Healing of other Vampyrical creatures, Mild regeneration, and Shape Shifting.

Draconians do not have to respond to Greeting Rattles, or Warning Hisses from traditional vampfurre's, however they do posess both Threat Growls, as well as Wierding Howls.

 * Threat GrowlCauses all Vampyres of weaker generations to back away instinctively, unless they are allies. If there is some variety of conflict, then even amongst allies, lesser Draconians will submit to a higher rank, or generation of Draconian. Mortals feel a physical chill in these situations, but do not recognize the source.

*Wierding Howl:  Has mutated slightly with the Draconian race. Typically, the Weirding Howl causes the Progenitor and progeny of any Vampfurre to have an instant sense of where that vampire should be, and come to their aid instantly.  As many of the Draconian's are natural born, they have become interconnected amongst themselves.  Draconians who are NOT natural born will only have this ability with their creator and any that they themselves create.

Psychological

Highly educated or more brawn? Also, what is their typical education level?
Almost all  Seregonians (Each Kingdom, not just Draconen Prime) has it's youths sent to the Academy in Son' Rashiid. The time period when each race goes to the Academy is entirely based on their age in comparison to their species, and the length varies depending on both species, as well as possible careers. Due to the long life expectancies of Draconians, they attend Academy for 10 years when they turn 500, after bloodlust is under control.

How do they treat clans members, kits/pups, etc?
Clansmembers are treated differently based on several outside forces.

Formal interactions: Can be displayed during Tribunals, Coronations, Group Visitation to alternate lands/kingdoms, War time, etc.
-During formal interactions, Draconians tend to separate much like a Greek or Roman civilization.  The royals, typically also head of the military, will step out from the crowd and band into a solid unit, while nobles and commonfolk step down and keep the kingdom moving.

Normal interactions are more unified. In typical situations, Draconians act more as a pack of wolves, or a pride of lions.  Alphas, Betas, and Deltas form the Queen's Guard, While the rest of the guard is made up of hunters. Omegas are typically the non-Guard members of the clan, regardless of station.  The young are generally adopted by the entire clan, rather than being raised by a specific parent, especially with the likelihood of parents being killed during battle or patrol.  Slavery is entirely nonexistant within the Draconian society, though it exists in some of the other lands.

What are the views on outsiders?
Outsiders are always viewed suspiciously by Draconian Vampyres. As they are the protectors and defenders of their lands, they view any entrance not marked with submission as a threat to their kind, and home.  When not in their own lands, they may not be as blatantly suspicious, but they consider themself better than most other breeds.

What is a typical attitude for a Draconian? Are they a shy race? Prideful?
Each Draconian has their own attitude, beneath a unified personality.  Draconians are IMMENSELY proud of what they are, and will not stand for any disagreeable words about their kin.  While they can talk down to their own kind, they will immediately defend one to another, even if having an argument with that specific person moments before.

What happens to traitors, outcasts, etc?
Depends on circumstance and prevalence.  In some circumstances, they are ostracized, while in others, they can be put to death.

Explain the lacunae and why it affects the Draconians? (not the 13 types, but is it a curse, is it due to the mix in their blood, etc)
Explained further under history, but the Lacunae are one of the weaknesses that the Draconians inherited from the Vampfurres who took over their lands first. These are said to be a missing piece of their souls making them incapable of some normal feeling.  If they were turned, they may have a faint memory of the feeling, but natural borns are completely unaware of it.  Like the other's, Draconian Vampyres tend to deny the existence of the lacunas. They can be found listed on Furcadia's site, or our RPR page.

What is their religion?
Draconians are Greco-Roman in belief.  They acknowledge the existence of The Primes and other religions Gods in addition, but care far less about them.  They believe the Greco-Roman gods (Particulary Greek) to be consistently aiding them in their endeavors, or hindering them.

Do they keep their curse/vampyre-ism to themselves? Why?
They find the Vampyric aspect of their personalities a light burden to pay in return for all of their other gifts, as well as a welcome change in comparison to the low vampires they may have been had things not progressed in the fashion that they did. That being said, they keep this aspect to themselves, as not to spoonfeed their weaknesses to others.

History

What were the Draconians like before turned into Vampyres?
Draconians came from a list of other events. In the beginning, they were presumably normal furres that migrated into Te'Sorthene.  3586 years ago, they split up and flooded into Draconen Prime's lands.  While not specific, their lore states that the castle-clad land was blessed by an Ancient dragon, Glaurung. A dragon known by many cultures in different ways, it was said that the dragon gave a piece of himself to the first nobles of Draconen Prime, leaving the elite culture blessed with Draconic traits and abilities. The main features that crossed over into the new blood line were their Draconic Eyesight and Armor, but there is sometimes still an occurence of Gold Lust and hypnotic abilities amongst the new species.  Most also inherited the gift of omnilingualism, and there is myth of a rare few chances of actual shapeshifting.

How did the Draconians get their armor? Is it always gold or can it be silver/bronze/etc?
The Draconian armor by lore is one of the gifts of the Dragon unto the original Draconians. No one knows exactly how it fell into magical use the way it is, or how, though many believe it to have something to do with the blood that mixed with the original pool, making it part of them.

"High Draconians" (Queen's Guard, with few exceptions) will always have gold armor. The other's may have silver or bronze based on station.  Nobles are typically born with silver armor.  In many cases, a Natural Born Draconian will not know whether they are to be a member of the Draconian Guard until the first time they go through their changes ( Typically around 20 years of age ) and see their armor color. This is a VERY big deal to them.  There are very rare situations, mostly through blood rituals, where a Draconian can be 'upgraded' so to speak.  This usually ends up with lasting side effects.

Who was the first to become a Draconian Vampyre? How did it happen?
Soleil is known to be the first of the Draconian Vampyre line.  Her story is considered to be exaggerated by many, so only a glorified version of the story is known. It is believed that the femme began as a creation of the God Apollo, in an attempt to form his own variety of Seraph. While immensely powerful, the concept wasn't widely admired by the other Olympians, who ordered her removed.  Unable to kill the creature, Apollo thought to let her live in the mortal realm.  The transfer lost the woman some of her Seraph powers, but not enough to curb the clear advantage. Upon original appearance in the mortal lands, Soleil was said to have additional sets of wings that would close up and mask themselves, as well as wielding intense telepathic and hypnotic abilties, and a fierce fire/light magic. She wandered for a while, raiding villages here and there before learning of the vampfurre infestation in Maegliin Seregon.  Before long, she had found her way into the Kingdom's walls in clever guise, allowing herself to be 'turned', and thus creating a new breed when her Seraph blood mixed with that of the Draconic turned vampfurres.

Who is Artemian?
Artemian, also as much a mystery, was said to be the response of the Gods to Soleil's continued existence in the mortal world. He first appeared a year after the first, and was said to be the creation of Apollo's own twin sister: Artemis, his namesake. Historically, the male was considered to have been made as closely as possible to the female, making him the perfect tool to destroy her. No one knows whether it was due to some additional persuasion from the female Seraph, or if the two were simply made to similarly, but within a year the two had found each other. Rather than returning her for punishment, the two became inseperable, the perfect compliments to one another who proceeded to bend the will of all around them to fit theirs.  Artemian was the second Draconian Vampyre created, and the only Draconian Vampyre in existence not created by Soleil herself. (At that time.)

What is the Draconian Queen's Guard/Elite Draconian Guard?
The Queen's Guard began with the first five Draconians turned by Soleil in the beginning.  Positions within this Elite band depend heavily on blood, and usually pass down through family lines.  They can only ever be either original Draconians, or naturally born Draconians. All positions are held by noble families.

Have the Draconian Vampyres been in wars?
The Draconians have fought MANY wars. The first after their creation, when they played a heavy role in uniting the rest of the Seregonian lands under one crown.  The next was fought on their own, without their creators to hold control of the Seregonian lands until the Seraph-born Draconians could serve their Godly sentence. The last war these warriors faced was the shortest, ending the year prior and caused by a Nargathrodian uprising to challenge the new reincarnations. Draconians are specifically designed and bred for battle.

Do they have enemies?
Nargathrodians, and occasionally some godly intrusion.

Do they have allies?
Though all other Seregonian lands are allied behind the Draconians, they have not, until recently, left their homelands to make allies abroad.

What time period can Draconian Vampyres be played in?
Draconians  are believed to exist in a Greco-Roman period, but can be played mostly in time with Furcadian lore, and medieval situations as well. No technology.

Geographical

What homeland did the Draconians come from?
All Seregonians are believed to have originally come from Kasuria or the Olde World.

What is the climate like?
Draconen Prime's is climate and ecosystem is almost entirely identical to that of Ancient Greece. Temperate but rainy Spring and Falls, Hot and dry Summers.

What is the ecosystem like? (Desert, plains, forests, etc?)
Mostly made up of Forested mountain terain and flatlands.

Cultural

What did the Draconians see themselves as?
Protectors, Enforcers and Governing body of Maegliin Seregon.

What governing system is there? (Democracy, dictatorship, matriarchy, patriarchy?)
Monarchy.

Do high class/nobles look different than lower class? Why? How?
Noble Draconians have separate bioluminescent markings to distinguish them on sight.

  •  Royalty will always have double lines from their eyes, as well as dots and swirled patterns over nose, forehead, cheeks, and eyes.  Typically, the rest of their bodies will be equally adorned. The more visible markings, the higher the rank.

  • Nobles that could potentially become royalty will also have double lines from their eyes, though dot patterns are usually reserved to faces and hands.

  • Captains of the Queen's Guard always have a single line from their eyes, as well as dot patterns over nose and eyes, and typically on hands.

  • Lieutenants of the Queen's Guard, and other nobles will always have dot patterns over eyes and noses. Traditionally on hands as well.

  • Natural-born Draconians NOT of noble birth, and Draconians who have been turned will not have these patterns.

What is their typical home life like? (Structure of home, people in "family", etc)
Draconians tend to be fond of castles, and stone buildings. They're almost always well designed, due to an inherited love of all things beautiful to most of the Draconians.  Golden accents and rich fabrics are typical in even the lowest station homes.  Families are not terribly different from most, except that there are far fewer children and rarely will an entirely line be found due to a Vikingesque War mentality.

What are the thoughts on turning a new person into a Draconian Vampyre?
There have to be special and extreme circumstances to warrant this, and for anyone other than the Queen to do so is considered a crime punishable by death.

Social

How do they address their Queen/higher ranking? Is it a strict "Highness/Lord/Lady" or do they call each other by names?
ONLY when in an official or formal setting do they address eachother by rank. In the few years after Sol and Artemian's rebirth, while regaining memories, Sol successfully abolished the use of these titles in most cases. She abhors the use of Titles, as she considers most of her people to be her own family.

How close are clans people?
Incredibly. Despite any argument they may have with eachother, they will ALWAYS come to one another's aid.
What are mating/relationships like? Does it vary to each individual or is there strict guidelines? (polyarmous, mate for life, no mates/relationships, etc.) Are they against same-sex relations or more forgiving/don't care?
Generally, Draconians have little care for applying guidelines to mating and relationships.  They only mate with each other in almost all circumstances, for the sake of keeping children pure-blood Draconian. If a Draconian were to fall in love with another, chances are they would either move to have their mate turned, or leave the clan. This is less to do with clan expectation, and more to do with personal pride.

Are there such thing as rebel Draconian Vampyres? (Against the system, not for the clan, etc)
Very, very few. There are a limited few who chose to leave during some of the wars, but remain loyal to their clan, and some who chose to fall in with Nargathrodians. Unfortunately, the chances of these creatures still remaining Draconian after joining the Demon legions is slim and unheard of.  As it were, the only known 'Rebel' Draconian is known as Triumph. A mistaken turn by the Seraph-borns, who is in and of herself, a separate strain of Draconian that any of them are at a loss to explain. This Te'Sorthenian Draconian is considered extremely dangerous, and handled with extreme caution.
